Our photography lesson for the week includes reflectors. Reflected light is the light professionals use. Direct light is harsh and creates un-flattering shadows on the face especially the eyes.

So how do you go about getting reflected light. Well, I will share this little secret of mine a little hesitantly, reflected light is all around us in the form of concrete. When I first started taking pictures I avoided cement surfaces. They were unattractive and well--gray.

But as I polished my skills in photography, I realized that the sidewalk, front porch, and driveway made for incredibly beautiful lighting, because of the reflection of light they were providing. So, truth be known, I use my front porch for about 50 percent of all pics I take of my children.

Boring or beautiful?
