Up Close

I think one of the biggest mistakes people make when taking photographs is not getting close enough to their subject. This is especially true of children. Believe me! Kids don't care if you invade "their space" while taking their picture. With adults, you can zoom in too, but you probably will still maintain a comfortable zone. Adults don't look quite as charming as children do up close. But likely you are still too far.

Now, if you think you are close, get closer! Don't worry if you cut off the tops of heads. One hint: Leave the ear in the frame or out, just not somewhere in between. Zoom in on those big, baby blue or warm, brown eyes! Capture the details--The slobber, tears, drool, rolls, wrinkles, sparkle, etc. Get close and capture personality. It will make a dramatic difference in your pictures. You will love them!
