Life is Like a Box of Chocolates...

After a fabulous dinner at Market Street Grill in Cottonwood, my husband and I arrived home with a box of chocolates from Sees Candies for our children to share. The box was wrapped in Christmas paper and was a gift from our friends.

The kids ran to the counter and grabbed eagerly for their fair share. My five year old was swift. He took a nibble out of 7 different pieces, making faces--with tongue sticking out. Then he spit out his bite and  replace the partially eaten chocolate back in the box. He did this repeatedly before the other kids got a hand on a single piece. It was so funny. His facial expressions were hilarious.

The thought came to my mind: "Life is like a box of chocolates. You never know what your going to get."

True with chocolates; true with life. One of our fine neighbors in Draper had a family quip: "You get what you get; don't throw a fit!" Good advice for all family members--even five year olds.

One Christmas, the children had opened all their gifts and gathered their pile of presents around them. Our son, Jeremy--who was seven--looked around at everyone's gifts then at his and said, "I guess I wasn't very good this year." We couldn't have laughed harder. That really was not the case, but with all the emphasis on naughty and nice, he concluded with that message.
