Sugar Cookies with Pink Frosting



1 cup butter, softened
1 cup sugar
2 eggs,
3 cups flour
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup sour cream

1. Cream together butter, sugar, eggs, and vanilla.
2. In separate bowl, sift flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
3. Add flour mixture to butter mixture. Stir to blend.
4. Add sour cream and mix.
5. Refrigerate for at least 1 hour.
6. Roll chilled dough on floured surface to a 1/4 inch thickness.
7. Cut into shapes. Re-rolling dough using scraps as needed.
8. Place on cookie sheet 2 inches apart.
9. Bake in 375 degree oven for 9 minutes or until edges are slightly golden brown.
9. When cool, frost with butter cream frosting when cool.

Butter Cream frosting:

3 cups powdered sugar
1/3 cup softened butter
1/3 cup whole milk or half and half (more if needed for desired consistency)
1 teaspoon vanilla
2 to 3 drops food coloring

1. In medium bowl, cream all ingredients until smooth.
2. Frost sugar cooled sugar cookies.

These cookies are fabulous. They are super soft. My youngest son said, "I love those frosted cookies."

In high school, sugar cookies with pink frosting was my favorite indulgence.
