A Letter to My Daughter's Bullies
To my daughter's bullies,
The day I gave birth to my first born child, Madison, I count as one of the five finest days in my wonderful life. The day she was born, a mother was born as well. Since that summer eve, I have fought for, lived for, advocated for, and have been willing to die for my child, my daughter. She is my joy, my heart, and my life.
When she became a victim of bullying, I became a victim of bullying. Every tear she cried, I cried. Every heart ache she felt, I felt. The emotional pain, anguish, and suffering was REAL and in many ways devastating. However, I want you to know that you did NOT break her. You certainly did not RUIN her. You did not win the mean and despicable game you were playing. Let me explain why.
You may have weakened her love for school, but you strengthened her love for family.
You may have cost her opportunities, but you gave her determination to keep achieving.
You may have hurt her physical health, but you helped her mental tenacity.
You may have diminished her fun, but you enlarged her empathy.
You may have shaken her up, but you steeled her courage.
You may have rattled her beliefs, but you fortified her faith.
You may have shortened her sweet innocence, but you stretched her sage awareness.
You may have ruined her teenage social life, but you created a hope for a better future life.
You may have decreased her self esteem, but you increased her self worth.
You may have dented her reputation, but you forged her character.
You may have destroyed Super Girl, but you made Wonder Woman.
Without spite,
Madison's Mom
