GTU Kitchen--Rigatoni Bolognese

Before going on the air, I had a chance to chat with Michelle Money--former Bachelor Contestant. She asked me about my cookbooks and I asked her about The Bachelor. We both laughed about being on television, but not watching television.

On today's show, I demonstrated how to make Rigatoni Bolognese.

WOBM 92.7 Jersey Shore Radio Interview

Shawn: Skinny-licious! Are you telling me that skinny and delicious can be included in the same word?

Shauna: I know. It sounds like a misnomer, but it is true. We can eat ourselves skinny! We need food to lose weight and give our body the things that it needs to function--that is the right food.

What we eat and when we eat makes up ninety-percent of our weight loss results. I was training and running marathons and still gaining weight.

Shawn: You have so many delicious recipes in your cookbook, Skinny-licious. Do you have a favorite dish?

Shauna: Well, it does depend on my mood, but I often tell people to start with Thai Coconut Chicken Soup. One of the great things about Skinny-licious is it calls for foods you are familiar with and can be found in your local grocery store. As a mother of five children, I did not want to make food for me then something different for them.

Sue: As a single, working mom that is so important! There just isn't time.

Shauna: The recipes are so tasty, my children beg me to make them and I know I am giving them food that is not just good for weight loss and weight management, I am giving them food that is nourishing.

Shawn: That is unbelievable!

Sue: REALLY?

Shauna: Absolutely! When we eat tasty, delicious food, we satisfy our palates and cut cravings.

Shawn: Was there one food that was hard for you to stay away from?

Shauna: Yes. One of the foods that was most difficult to pass up was hot French Bread. I love it paired with Italian food. However, I experimented with food to see what sped up weight loss and what slowed it down. I found that white flour and sugar slowed weight loss so I tried to stay away from those foods most of the time.

Shawn: There you have it: Skinny-licious! Where can we find your cookbook, Amazon?

Shauna: Yes, you can find Skinny-licious at Amazon.com, Barnes and Noble and other fine bookstores.

There was a little bit more, but that was the main crux of it!

Currently, I am sick so my voice was deeper, crackly--I like to think of it as sultry, but I doubt it!

Skinny-licious on NBC Studio 5

Studio 5 on NBC has a new look for the new year--a re-designed mod, hip "green room" and a lovely white kitchen with all the soothing and calm colors of the season including lime, aqua, and coral. This interior design make-over was food for thought.

Growing up, I loved watching makeover episodes on Oprah and other day time television shows. They were my favorite segments. There is something incredibly inspiring about someone who re-invents themselves or re-makes themselves. It's about second chances. It's about becoming our best self. It's about NOT letting life pass us by. It's about being empowered to make positive changes.

My three daughters were raised with the mantra, "be your best self." You can't be someone else. You can only be the best you. Losing weight, making over my metabolism and body was my personal "makeover." I gained 60 ghastly pounds and lost those pounds after giving birth to 5 children and after turning 40.

I never dreamed I would be one of those "makeover stories," but oddly enough, I am one. I appreciate the appearances I have had on NBC's Studio 5. It's always a wonderful time working with the hosts and crew on cooking segments. Thanks to NBC for being the first to introduce Skinny-licious to their viewers. I am happy to announce that Skinny-licious is NOW in book stores including Deseret Book, Seagull Book, Barnes and Noble, and Costco.

May this be the year that you make-over yourself. You never know, you may be sharing your story with thousands of people like me. Join the Skinny-licious revolution and body and metabolism make-over. This changed my life, my health, and body. I know it can do the same for you.

Eat yourself skinny!

Skinny-licious Press Release Jan. 2014

http://myemail.constantcontact.com/Lite-and-Scrumptious-Recipes-for-a-Slimmer-You.html?soid=1102549438736&aid=P6MfDpjFKpk

Friends, this is the press release for my new cookbook, Skinny-licious, due in bookstores in 4 days on January 14, 2014. You can buy this gorgeous, scrumptious weight loss cookbook at Barnes and Noble, Books and Things, Amazon, and other fine bookstores around the country. I am so happy to have the opportunity to share my story and success with you. You matter. Your health matters. Your happiness matters. This will be one of the best investments you make this year.

Leave a comment or any question you may have. You may also email me. I will keep you posted with the various book signings I will be doing beginning January 15, 2014. I would love to come to you, if you have a large group or business to talk about the principles of changing your metabolism and improving your health with delicious REAL, wholesome food.

I don't eat perfectly. I subscribe to a 80/20 diet like the wonderful Denise Austin. Eighty percent of my diet and food is excellent, healthy, nourishing. Twenty percent of my diet is "fun food." My "fun food" or treats include things like cinnamon chips, chocolate chips, oatmeal and peanut butter cookies--all homemade of course.

Eat yourself skinny,

Shauna
